The books in the Library are arranged according to the Library of Congress Classification System. This system is in use at many academic libraries throughout the world.
The Library of Congress Classification System organizes material in libraries according to twenty-one branches of knowledge. Each branch of knowledge is assigned unique alphabets ranging from A to Z.
The classification number begins with one or two letters followed by some numbers. E.g. TR 267 DAL 2002.
The first letter T represents the subject "technology" while TR is a sub-class of T which represents Photography. The numbers 267 tells us the subject is on Digital photography. The third portion "DAL" represents the author's name.
A brief outline of the system is given below to help you locate materials fast. |
